Free and Open — Replicant GEN 1

For makers, tinkerers, researchers, and students.

Who this is for​

You want to build, learn, research, or teach with the Replicant GEN 1 platform. You are not running a commercial manufacturing business with it.

What you can do​

  • Build one for yourself, or for your class, lab, or club.
  • Fork the design. Change anything you like.
  • Share your changes publicly.
  • Sell small numbers at cost or for fundraising, as long as you follow the licence.

What it costs​

Zero dollars. The design files are free under CERN-OHL-W-2.0.

Example: Print a frame, solder the flight controller, fly it in your backyard. No invoice, no account, no reporting.

What you promise (four things)​

  1. Publish your changes. If you modify the design and share the hardware with others, you share the design files too.
  2. Credit Yirra Systems and the Replicant GEN 1 project.
  3. Don't imply Yirra endorses you or your fork.
  4. Don't attack other users with patents. If you sue someone over this design, your own licence ends.

What happens if you mess up​

The licence ends automatically. You lose the right to build or share the design until you fix it. We don't send lawyers. You just lose the licence. CERN-OHL-W-2.0 section 7 tells you how to cure within 30 days and restore your rights.
