Drone Assembly
With your arms bonded and cured, it's time to bring everything together. This guide walks through the key assembly steps using our animated references.

Keep your workspace clear and components organized. Small fasteners and cables are easy to lose in a cluttered environment.
1: Heat Set Insert Installation
Heat set inserts provide secure, threaded mounting points throughout the frame. Proper installation ensures reliable fastener retention during flight.
Installation technique:
- Use a soldering iron or heat gun set to the insert manufacturer's specifications
- Insert straight and hold until the plastic cools and solidifies
- Verify each insert is flush and secure before proceeding
- Allow cooling time between installations to prevent frame warping
2: GPS Installation
The GPS module mounts to the top of the frame, positioned for optimal satellite visibility away from interference sources.
Key points:
- Orient the GPS arrow marking forward (toward the nose)
- Ensure the module sits flat with no cable strain
- Route the cable cleanly to avoid the prop arc
3: Install 250mm Right Angle Antenna Cable
Install the 250mm right angle antenna cable for optimal positioning and signal quality.
Installation:
- Route cable through designated conduit
- Ensure right angle connector faces correct direction
- Leave adequate length for final positioning
- Secure with cable ties to prevent movement
4: O4 Pro Camera Placement in Nose Cone
The DJI O4 Pro camera feeds through the nose cone housing before locking into position.
Installation sequence:
- Feed the MIPI ribbon cable through the nose cone first
- Guide the camera module toward the portal opening
- Push past the opening — the housing will flex slightly
- The camera will drop and seat into its final position
The nose cone is designed to flex during insertion. Don't force it — steady pressure is all that's needed.
5: Insert and Wire Power Distribution Board
Install the power distribution board and establish primary power connections.
Installation:
- Position PDB in designated location
- Connect main battery input
- Wire power outputs for ESCs and accessories
- Secure board with mounting hardware
6: Prepare Battery Rail with Wiring
Prepare the battery rail with all necessary wiring harnesses before installation.
Preparation steps:
- Install XT60 connector and power leads
- Add balance leads if required
- Install mounting hardware
- Test electrical continuity
7: Run Power Cable from Power Distribution Board to Stack and Mount Battery Rail and Bottom Plate
Route power cables from the PDB to the ESC stack while mounting the battery rail and bottom plate. Allow enough slack for cables to run under the O4 Pro air unit.

Cable routing considerations:
- Keep power cables away from signal wires to reduce interference
- Ensure sufficient slack for movement under air unit
- Secure cables with ties or clips to prevent snagging
- Mount battery rail and bottom plate simultaneously for alignment
8: Mount ESC and Wire Power Connectors
Install ESCs and connect power from the PDB to each motor controller.
Installation sequence:
- Mount ESCs to designated positions
- Connect power leads from PDB
- Route motor wires cleanly
- Secure all connections with heat shrink or connectors
9: Mount Arms and Wire to ESC
Attach the front and rear arms to the chassis and connect motor wires to ESCs.
Arm mounting:
- Align arm boss with chassis mounting points
- Insert fasteners in sequence — don't fully tighten until all are started
- Connect motor wires to corresponding ESCs
- Verify arm angle matches design specification
10: Install Antenna Cable on Rear Spine Mounting Boss
Install the antenna cable mounting hardware on the rear spine. Ensure no support material remains in the mounting hole.
Installation:
- Clean mounting hole of any support material
- Install mounting hardware
- Secure antenna cable connector
- Verify secure fitment
11: Connect Antenna Cable to Air Unit and Receiver
Connect the antenna cable to the O4 Pro air unit and receiver for signal transmission.
[Video placeholder - new video needed]
Connection steps:
- Attach antenna cable to air unit RF port
- Connect to receiver antenna input
- Ensure secure connections
- Test signal continuity
12: Mount Receiver to Top of Air Unit
Position and secure the receiver on top of the O4 Pro air unit.

Mounting:
- Align receiver with mounting features
- Secure with provided hardware
- Ensure stable positioning
- Verify antenna cable routing
13: Mount Flight Controller and Begin Connecting GPS, RX
Install the flight controller and establish initial connections for GPS and receiver.
[Video placeholder - new video needed]
Initial setup:
- Mount flight controller securely
- Connect GPS module
- Connect receiver
- Establish power connection
- Begin cable organization
14: Run Cable from Power Distribution Board to On Button
Route the cable from the power distribution board to the on/off button, passing it through the middle hole in the top plate.
[Video placeholder - new video needed]
Cable routing:
- Connect button cable to PDB
- Route through top plate center hole
- Secure with cable ties
- Test button functionality
15: Mount Top Plate
Install the top plate for structural reinforcement and component mounting.
Mounting considerations:
- Align all mounting holes with the chassis bosses
- Ensure even pressure distribution
- Verify plate sits flush with no gaps
- Torque fasteners progressively
16: Attach Spine to Upper Shell
Connect the rear spine to the upper shell assembly.
[Video placeholder - new video needed]
Assembly:
- Align spine with upper shell mounting points
- Secure with appropriate fasteners
- Ensure proper alignment
- Verify structural integrity
17: Carefully Insert Top Cover Assembly
Carefully insert the top cover assembly in a forward and downward motion, engaging the top cover into the top plate. Secure with fasteners: front (under nose cone tab), 2 titanium screws at spine, and one low profile at rear.
Installation tips:
- Route all cables through designated openings before seating
- Press down evenly around the perimeter for proper sealing
- Ensure cover sits completely flush
- Secure with specified fasteners at designated locations
Pre-Flight Checklist
Before powering up for the first time:
| Check | Verify |
|---|---|
| Prop clearance | All props spin freely with no contact |
| Prop tightness | All props are tight and motors spin easily without binding or coarse sounds/feeling |
| Frame rigidity | Frame and arms have no movement or flex |
| Cable routing | No cables in prop arc |
| Fasteners | All mounting screws secure |
| Electronics | All connections secure and tested |
Completed Assembly
Your Replicant is now fully assembled and ready for firmware configuration.
